The Family Fun Bus. Claire Wright and Mandi Allin (both family support workers) bring the "Family Play Bus" to West Alvington every week (not Christmas week) of the year. Working from the village hall and weather permitting on the village playing field, open 9.45-11.15 each Tuesday. The "Bus" is full of exiting toys for the children to use and enjoy. All welcome with parents, Grannies, child minders or even friends. A warm welcome is guaranteed and it is a very friendly meeting point. Tea or coffee is provided for the adults whilst the children play in a safe environment. The morning is rounded off by healthy snacks for the children and a story tim. The iniative is organised by Childrens Centre in Kingsbridge, supported by the Play Bus from Totnes and funded by Barnardo's. No fees are charged although a small "pink pig" provides a place for donations. The event is well supported with anything from 14 plus children with family and friends. More always welcome. Highly recomended |
The following letter has been distributed to those attending the Family Play Bus. We are writing to inform all families living in the Kingsbridge and Dartmouth areas, that from the end of august 2009, the Family Play Bus service, based in Totnes will no longer be working on behalf of the Dartmouth and Kingsbridge Children's Centres to deliver our outreach services. Our current arrangements with the family Play Bus has come to an end, and the two groups who steer the work of the two childrens Centres, have decided to spend the funds in a different way in the future. we are in the process of leasing a vehicle from Banardo's U.K which will allow transportation of resources and staff, but also families and children. this vehicle will be able to deliver services such as those which have been delivered in the past, but more venues, more often and with more flexibility. Each local Childrens Centre is responsible for delivering outreach across its area and Barnardo's South West is keen to ensure the service continues to benefit local children and their families, in the most cost effective way possible. We understand that as parents/carers and service users you may have suggestions which could help us to shape the future provision, we would like to hear from you. If you have any suggestions, please speak with Barnardo's staff at your session or contact me directly on the number below. We are happy to discuss how we can help make the service better than ever. The local area Childrens Centre teams are currently planning to ensure a seamless service and would greatly appreciate your feedback on the present service and ideas to include in the future. Yours sincerely, Claire English Childrens Centre Manager Kingsbridge and dartmouth - 07980863878 A certain amount of concern has been raised over the content of this letter and what it may mean to the Village service. The Parish Council have spoken to Claire English and I will be meeting those concerned on Tuesday to hear more |
